DigiCult is delighted to announce its Scottish Digital Shorts 2010 Talent Pool – Scotland’s key development initiative for new and emerging screenwriters, directors and producers.

From over 150 applicants from across Scotland, DigiCult identified ten exciting voices to develop short live action and animation projects. The SDS 2010 Talent Pool has emerged from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines and includes two animators, an advertising director, a successful theatre and TV writer, as well as recent graduates from the National Film and Television School (NFTS) and Edinburgh Skillset Screen and Media Academy.

DigiCult is also pleased to work with emerging filmmakers who have been recognised through a variety of new talent development schemes and take them forward to the next stage of their careers.

The successful applicants have now entered an intense period of development, working on their short drama or animation projects through one-to-one meetings with DigiCult producers. This has been coupled with training at The Script Factory in London, led by experienced and high profile tutors and guest speakers including Oscar and BAFTA nominated Director, Mike Figgis, Actress Natalie Press, and BIFA-award-winning Directors Eran Creevy and Paul Andrew Williams.

DigiCult Executive Producer, Paul Welsh, will also present his Story Room workshop, with the full pool coming together at the artist residency retreat Cove Park on the Rosneath Peninsula, for a one-day workshop focusing on character and story development. In April 2010, four of these projects will then be commissioned and will be realised in productions in the early summer of 2010.
